Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog Breed Description The Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog is an unexaggerated and functional bulldog with square head, prominent muzzle, and broad chest. They are a muscular and well-developed breed. The average male Alapaha weighs 75-95 pounds, 22-26 inches tall at the withers, while females are smaller, weighing 60-70 pounds. Coat The coat of a regular Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog is short, dense and harsh, equally covering the body. It has a natural shine, but no feathering on the tail and legs. Acceptable coat colors are brown merle, blue merle, red merle brindle, brown, black, red, tan, and white. Alapahas with solid color or black mask on their faces are considered impure, although patches on both eye or on one are acknowledged. Activity The Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog is very athletic and is inactive indoors. To keep them from being obese, they should have structured, and regular exercise, with extended periods of time outdoors per day. They are capable of exercising themselves, so that would not be a problem for owners. This type of breed is a good jogging companion, and enjoys spending time playing with family members. They love to play with family, chase ball, and run alongside with kids, provided that they are well-trained. Temperament The Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog is strong and alert, yet athletic and agile. They are known to be a great companion dog, and a guardian that will courageously protect their family when the need arises. The Alapaha is playful, and tolerant with children of all ages. Although families thinking of purchasing this breed should keep in mind that they are very protective. Introducing them to visitors may calm them down for they tend to be hostile around strangers. They are naturally calm, but will be aggressive if threatened. Overview The Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog is a rare breed. This breed is a bulldog-type watch dog that is considered an ideal pet dog. They are exceedingly protective of their master's family and property, and at the same time shows grand affection for, especially the children. Care The Alapaha is an average shredder so little grooming is required for this breed. They need occasional brushing to remove dead hair and prevent build-up of shed hair. Bathing twice a month is suggested. Alapahas have a small genetic pool, so inversion of eyelids may develop, which owners should watch out for. Training The Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog is intelligent and easy to train. They are excellent at obedience. In training this breed, pack leader status must be obtained. Lines should be clearly defined, and humans must be higher in the order than the dog. This kind of breed are relatively easy to housebreak, and will be able to walk on a leash within 2 days. Character The Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog is a powerful, grand bulldog widely known to be a guardian, protector, and companion. The Alapaha's mental characteristics and abilities as a family guard dog are impressive. Although constantly mistaken as to be feared, they can get along with other animals, even cats, when socialized properly.
