American Bulldog Working Therapy Dogs
Delta
Delta is presently the only working Therapy Dog in Canada that is a American Bulldog.
She was first registered with St. Johns Ambulance three years ago and passed all required tests that would allow her to gain access to nursing home as well as hospitals.
She has also proven herself when tested by the AKC and she earned a CGC.
Great care is taken in the set up of this program, to ensure that everyone availing themselves of this free community service is comfortable with its procedures;
* All dogs are tested for temperament by qualified evaluators
* The Volunteers must have Police checks done
* Annual health records of all dogs are kept on file
* Volunteers and their dogs are carefully monitored and trained by experienced members in the early stages of their introduction to the program
* Volunteers and their dogs are recognized for their commitment
* Activity directors in the facilities are happy to know that both handler and dog are insured and that the volunteer has made the commitment to make regular visits.
